COVID-19 testing at Health Express Raynham is available 7 days a week. The two types of tests that we offer are:
- Abbott ID NOW – $160
- This is a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) that uses a proprietary process to amplify genetic material contained in the COVID-19 virus. It is a high sensitivity test that will detect the high viral loads during the contagious/symptomatic phase of a COVID-19 infection. This test produces results in 15 minutes.
- Quest Diagnostics PCR – $180
- Once specimen is collected, it is sent to a Quest Diagnostics lab to be resulted. Depending on volume, results can take approximately 72 hours. Results for this test can be found by accessing the Quest Diagnostics portal at https://myquest.questdiagnostics.com/web/home
For both tests, medical insurance will cover if you are acutely ill and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, loss of taste/smell, difficulty breathing, or nausea. Insurance will also cover it if you have been directly exposed to a positive COVID-19 case. Exposure cases must be tested 4-5 days from initial exposure.
If you do not have symptoms and are requesting the test for screening purposes, such as travel, school, work, etc. insurance will not cover the visit. The cost will be $180 for the Quest Diagnostics test or $160 for the Abbott ID Now Rapid Molecular Test. Both charges include the exam by the provider and test itself.
* Please note that swabbing takes place via COVID-19 testing window, therefore, the youngest age we can safely accommodate is 7 years old. *
For travel, we ask that you find out which test the airline/destination is requiring PRIOR to your appointment with Health Express to ensure the right test.
